Remains of the year

The year ends in sunshine, swirls of hail, and wind. The wood stove is alight; the pets are fed. We saw two eagles at the beach on Monday, huge waves, no one else about. Friends are coming tomorrow; more sun and cold predicted.

Early Winter

L to R: Stuart, Betty, Abe, BeBa, Bea

December 3, 2010--some sun and some cold.....winter is here early; maybe spring will be too. Lots of work has left my studio lately, out the door. The last ARTwalk of the year is next Saturday. Things are hunkering down. The 5 cats are hungry, and so is Cody. I'd better tend to them. More soon.

At the beach with Cody on my BDay
My BDay was sunny--glorious. Cody and I went to the beach, and walked north. I called John in Seattle to say we wished he were here; suddenly Cody was way up the beach, had found a dead fish and was rolling in it. Phhew! I took off my shoes and socks and got into the surf to try to wash him off. We postponed a real bath till we got home and had some soap.

Jeremy and Tom had came by with two beautiful tables that they'd built for my studio. I spent the
rest of the day getting the house and food ready for six peninsula women friends whom I'd invited for dinner: Caprese salad, prawns, pasta, ice cream and lots of candles. Next year, we'll have cake.

One Year, One Month & One Day

How can it be that a year, a month and a day have passed since my last entry?

It's been a year of work in my studio, a year with all of the innate pressures of making new work from ideas that percolate and pop--and a year without the stress from the day job that I did for over 40 years! It's been great!

This summer has been one of figuring out what's happening with my new work and of breathing deeply on the beach. I have also "overseen" two nice carpenters' improvements to our cottage, fed the Furrs and have had more time to read.

Here's my Nahcotta studio and a new painting, FlameFruitLeafFeather I:
